The Iraq Freedom Congress rejects the right of the US Senate to decide the destiny of the Iraqi nation. The IFC also make their own case against partition. The United States Senate have adopted a resolution in which partitioning of Iraq to regional federalism is proposed. This decision comes after more than four years of virtually dividing Iraq (legally, constitutionally and politically) to wards. Since the occupation of Iraq; the Governing Council and all successive governments were established based on sectarianism and ethnicity after enacting a constitution that paved the way for this division. What is taking place today, such as the conflict at the highest level of the political power in Iraq and the killing of thousands of innocent people by militia groups who are wrestling among each other throughout the recent years, is a clear expression of each group's intention to obtain a greater share of power, influence and wealth based on the aforementioned division. read full story / add a comment

Yesterday, Galway Food Not Bombs were at it again in Shop Street, this time beneath the shelter of green canvas, sporting a freshly painted flourescent banner and augmented with three new activists. From our tentative start some months back, we are now riding the crest of a wave of goodwill; from the city's Community Wardens who no longer harrass us, to the plethora of shops who, in empathy, donate not unsubstantial amounts of food to us every Saturday evening. read full story / add a comment

It’s a little darker under the trees than the last time I was here and the colors of Autumn have started there march through the leaves at Rath Lugh. This hill here was never put on an ordnance survey map and the name has shifted and been shifted until it now means only a small monument which may soon disappear. It can be seen from everywhere in the valley, it has been here throughout all of Tara’s history yet details about it are sketchy and it appears only briefly in ancients writings. One of the monuments on its roof has been temporary preserved but which one is unsure. This is after years of planning a road around it, destroying a part of it and then trying to protect it. Due to the advance of the M3 everything in the valley has been documented, mapped and numbered except this hill and now its woods, monuments, graves and spring are snared and encircled by a speculator driven, badly planned and unwanted road. read full story / add a comment
