Day-to-day weather, with all its extremes, is "just weather", according to the IPCC. With their authority onside, we can shrug off the BBC's melodramatic climate reports and misinformation, says Mark Ellse.

Luke McGuire (26), had been following a vegan diet developed by US alternative medicine advocate Robert Young and was taking salt supplements -- labelled 'Young Phorever pHour Salts' and 'Young Phorever PuripHy' . He died after suffering a sudden collapse in Ranelagh, Dublin, on June 2, 2011.

Dublin City coroner , Dr Brian Farrell , returned a verdict of “death by misadventure” on Mr McGuire .Sadly, Dr Farrell didn’t take the opportunity to issue any sort of statement about the dangers of buying these so-called supplements over the internet .

WICKLOW County Council / ISPCA REFUSE RESCUE GROUPS ACCESS to SAVE ‘POUND DOGS’ LIVES

- DEMAND THAT WICKLOW COUNCIL MEMBERS ALLOW THESE DOGS TO BE SAVED/rehomed BY REPUTABLE RESCUES

The ISPCA run the WICKLOW pound on behalf of Wicklow county council. There are 2 dog wardens employed who have been doing the job for years and obviously by their stance they obviously think killing is perfectly acceptable.
They are obstructing all efforts to allow rescues in to help the dogs and have the backing of the council, the ISPCA do not intervene.
According to sources there has been no effective governance of the pound by the council at all - they just sign a cheque for them every year and don't want to know.
The council don’t appear to care or have a clue about the pound and insist all the dogs they kill are unsuitable for rehoming (44% in 2010 and 28% last year)
Dogs Trust can take some dogs as does Wicklow spca but there are lots of other dogs that need help.

"A lot of people say we have no control over how this country is run" These are the opening words of the current television advertisement campaign being run to convince people to vote in Saturday's referendum, and they reflect what most of us already know about the political system which operates in Ireland. The advert however does not go on to explain how only those living in 26 of Ireland's 32 Counties will be given a vote and that a quarter of Ireland's population will be automatically excluded read full story / add a comment

Vid at link. Full interview on Friday on RT.
In an exclusive interview with RT, Syrian President Bashar Assad said he will not leave Syria. Assad also spoke on the calls for armed foreign intervention in Syria, and the possible fallout on the country’s internal conflict and across the region.

“We are the last stronghold of secularism and stability in the region and coexistence, let’s say, it will have a domino effect that will affect the world from the Atlantic to the Pacific and you know the implication on the rest of the world,” Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad told RT in an exclusive interview that will air on Friday, November 9.

“I am not a puppet. I was not made by the West to go to the West or to any other country,” he said. “I am Syrian, I was made in Syria, I have to live in Syria and die in Syria,” Assad said during the interview. read full story / add a comment

The current economic model, based on the massive use of energy, is pushing more intensive forms of extractive activities which often have detrimental impacts on communities and the environment. This reality has lead to many cases of open conflict between local communities and multinational interests –with national governments sometimes opting for aiding economic interests with the use of public force against local communities in resistance. Speakers from Colombia and Ireland will address this tension and how communities organize to resist an unsustainable model.

Crotty v. An Taoiseach (1986) was a landmark decision of the Irish Supreme Court which found that Ireland could not ratify the Single European Act unless the Irish Constitution was first changed to permit its ratification. The case established that significant changes to EU treaties required an amendment to the Irish constitution – always done by means of a referendum – before they could be ratified by Ireland.

‘The question therefore is whether the State in attempting to ratify this Treaty is endeavoring to act free from the restraints of the Constitution.’
—Walsh J (Supreme Court Judge)
